Our Story
Groton Bible Chapel recently celebrated 100 years of ministry! During our centennial celebration, the four slideshows below were created to honor all the dedicated servants that have come before us in building the church into what it is today.
GBC 1919 — 1954
GBC began in 1919 out of a ministry to children. It soon became a growing family church in which adults were largely outnumbered by kids.
GBC 1955 — 1972
During these years GBC outgrew their prior location and made the purchase for the property at Toll Gate Road. The ministry continued to grow and thrive as a neighborhood church under the leadership of Pastor Dave Ward and the elders.
GBC 1973 — 1999
These years saw continued growth in our ministries. Kids flourished from the Praise Kids to AWANA program. A Christian Preschool was established on the property while ground was broken to introduce the Gym to the property.
GBC 2000 — 2019
These years marked the transition of Groton Bible Chapel from a neighborhood to a regional church, positioned well to encourage other local churches and reach Southeast Connecticut with the power of the Gospel.
