Weather and the Working(s) of our Missional God

Snowy weather often occupies our time and outlook. This week why not use the following texts to talk to God about His work around the world in and through His people, both here at home and on the mission field. Remember our friends in Haiti, Africa, India and wherever the weather God sends touches and reveals His greatness…by means of the snow. Job 37:5-7 - “God’s voice is glorious in thunder. We can’t even imagine the greatness of his power. He directs the snow to fall on the earth and tells the rain to pour down. Then everyone stops working so they can watch his power.”

Job 38:22,23 “Have you visited the storehouses of the snow…? (I have reserved them as weapons for the time of trouble, for the day of battle and war.)”

Psalms 51:7,8 “Purify me from my sins, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. Oh, give me back my joy again; you have broken me-now let me rejoice.”

Proverbs 25:13 “Trustworthy messengers refresh like snow in summer.”

Isaiah 1:17,18 - “Learn to do good. Seek justice. Help the oppressed. Defend the cause of orphans. Fight for the rights of widows. ‘Come no, let’s settle this,’ says the Lord. ‘Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them as white as snow. Though they are red like crimson, I will make them as white as wool’”.

Isaiah 55:9-11 - “For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts. The rain and snow come down from the heavens and stay on the ground to water the earth. They cause the grain to grow, producing seed for the farmer and bread for the hungry. It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.”

Revelation 1:12-18 “I saw…someone like the Son of Man…His head and his hair were white like wool, as white as snow. And his eyes were like flames of fire….His face was like the sun in all its brilliance…He said…'Don’t be afraid! I am the First and the Last. I am the living one. I died, but look - I am alive forever and ever!”
