On Saturday, July 4th, our first summer youth Vision Team headed out on a one-week trip to Houck, Arizona. The team of fourteen people, led by Bryan and Laurie Buckley and Tim Brown, will be serving under the leadership of LeaderTreks, a national ministry dedicated to developing the next generation of church leaders. Our teens will spend their mornings working on construction and painting projects for a local church. A VBS for the Navajo children is planned for the afternoons. Throughout the week they will be challenged with devotions and Bible study times, encouraging their personal walk with the Lord as well as helping them develop into future leaders. On Sunday, July 12th, our WorkcampNE team leaves for Sanford, ME. The thirteen-member team will be led by Rachel Adams, Michelle LaForte, and Sue and Larry Spencer. Each day our teens will serve with peers from other churches by completing house maintenance projects for those in the community who most need help. Their workday is sprinkled with devotional times and spiritual conversations that are reinforced through a nightly program of worship, Bible teaching, and group sharing.
Throughout July, several of our middle schoolers, led by Jeremy Vorce, Meghan Hartley, and Susan Tumey will meet weekly to carry out a variety of local service projects. The goal is to foster the vision of becoming God’s servant by learning to help others.
Please be in prayer for these teams. Pray that their time in ministry will encourage this next generation of believers to see beyond themselves and experience the joy of serving God by serving others. Please pray for their safety in travel, on the worksite, and in play.
