From Questioning to Encouragement to Concerted Prayer

prayer-on-my-knees42Our GBC family is in a “continuing conversation” with God about why, from our point of view, He allows cancer to remove His servants from active kingdom participation? One cancer survivor, while fighting his own battle, made these observations from Ephesians… “Cancer cells unite together to destroy the healthy body.” This week, may we be encouraged through our pain and questions to pray for the unity of the body of Christ, both here in Groton and worldwide. Again, for the church in Ukraine as Christians stand on different ethnic sides of the political line. For God’s servants in India as they bring the good news about Jesus to men and women of different people groups divided by years of hatred and fighting. For Haiti, that the Christian ministries would work together and not compete as they minister to rebuild a nation, suffering from years of corruption and a devastating earthquake. For ________... (a country or people group that God has brought to your mind)… that together, we will reveal the glory of God to a watching world.

Pray using Paul’s words, “As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all... So Christ himself gave [gifts]... to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ... speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.” [excerpted from Ephesians 4]
