Praying for Persecuted Christians

Every 5 minutes, a Christian is killed for his or her faith across the world… And the bone-chilling reality about the increase in Christian martyrdom globally over the past century is that it has escalated dramatically. Additionally, more than 200 million Christians are threatened because of their faith in more than half (105 of 190) of the nations in the world. There have been more Christian martyrs in the 20th and 21st centuries than in the preceding 19 centuries combined. The most hostile nations on earth to Christianity center around the Middle East and Africa. But the greatest recurring persecutor of Christians remains in the communist dictatorship headed by North Korea’s Kim Jong-un. This hostile regime has made it especially difficult for Christian missionaries to reach for decades. The top 10 nations that violate Christians right to freedom (from harshest to somewhat less harsh) include: North Korea, Somalia, Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Sudan, Iran, Pakistan, Eritrea and Nigeria … Other countries that deserve our “warfare prayer” include Saudi Arabia , Libya, Yemen, Kenya, India, Egypt, Palestinian Territories, China, Mexico and Indonesia. We encourage you to pray for believers who are persecuted for their faith in Christ around the world. Pray using the words of Hebrews 13:3, “Remember those in prison as if in prison with them and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.” And pray especially on November 1st and 8th on the International Day of Prayer.
