Breaking New Ground - Literally

Wangouman, Haiti is a very remote mountain communityand home to one of Jerusalem Baptist Ministries’ thriving, yetunder-served, churches. The current church building, whichalso houses a school of about 300 children, is a ramshackle edifice of repurposed local wood and rusty corrugated roofing sheets. Seating consists of bamboo poles placed between two “Y” shaped branches stuck into the ground. Despite these conditions, the good news of Jesus is warmly welcomed. In March, GBC’s next vision team will help to support our Christian family in Wangouman. We’ll assist the local church as they start construction on a more structurally sound meeting place. We’ll offer health screenings and health education for the local community. We’ll play with school kids, make crafts, and tell them stories of Jesus.

The most exciting part of this adventure is working with our ministry partners. Our team, mostly from our 20s group, will be working alongside JBM’s 20s. We’ll be eating together, camping together, learning together, and sharing Christ together.

Please pray for the team. Pray for safety. Pray for unity. Pray for logistical needs for this combined team of forty people. Pray that the light of Jesus will shine brightly from this mountain home of our Haitian brothers and sisters.
