As when Jesus cleared the temple, the Lord is not always meek and mild. In chapter 23 of Matthew, Jesus uses strong words to denounce and condemn the teachers of the law and Pharisees for their hypocritical ways and instructions; the religious leaders have misused God’s Word to put the people in bondage and have blocked them from knowing God. What does Jesus say and what lessons can we learn and apply to our lives?

Matthew 23:1-12; 6:6, 17-18. Why does Jesus encourage the people to not imitate their religious leaders? What are the leaders seeking and why does Jesus warn against it? Why do I perform acts of service to others?
