Haiti, April 8-15
There is another trip to Haiti planned from April 8-15. This trip corresponds to the Connecticut school vacation week. The team will be doing medical work, finishing some construction work, and planning toward our next projects there. If you have any interest in going, please contact Andy Bonner, email@example.com.
Builders For Christ, May 27- June 3
The Builders for Christ team will be traveling to Gatlinburg, Tennessee, helping to rebuild the Roaring Fork Baptist Church campus.
In late November a forest fire started in the nearby Smokey Mountains National Forest and spread into the Gatlinburg region. On November 28, the area was devastated when winds increased to 80 mph during a storm. Over 2000 structures were burned down. Fourteen people lost their lives and over 190 were hospitalized. Roaring Fork Baptist Church’s two buildings were among those destroyed.
After consultation, the original site for this year’s BFC build was put on hold and plans to rebuild Roaring Forks Baptist began. It is a church of over 200 people and conducts a sizeable children’s bus ministry. It has a traditional worship style, boldly teaching and preaching the Bible and the saving power of Jesus.
Our team will serve during the second week of the “build” when much of the outer structure, including the center trusses, is raised. While construction experience is always helpful, lesser skilled women and men over 18 are encouraged to attend. There’s always plenty to do.
The team leaves early Saturday morning, May 27 and returns late Saturday evening, June 3. If you have further questions about joining the team, please contact Andy Bonner, GBC’s Missions Pastor or Curtis Boyd, the BFC team leader.
