Romans 2:12-16 The LAW
The Law (of Moses) was only justifying to the one who obeyed the law in its entirety (which we will very soon see is no one, apart from Jesus Christ. Spoiler- This is the huge point that Paul is moving to make in chapter 3). But the compelling nature of the Gentiles having a “law unto themselves” continues the theme that no one is without excuse. God has written His name on the creation, and on culture. How is the mandate to preach the Gospel and make disciples (see Matthew 28:19-20) reinforced, not diminished with this knowledge?
