June 19th is recognized as “Father’s Day” in our country. This year Frontier’s USA, a missions organization targeting the Muslim world, has titled their Ramadan prayer guide “Searching for a Father.” This year’s guide looks at the Muslim world through the eyes of a Muslim family. It encourages us to identify with the feelings and emotions of a Muslim family, to be drawn into their experience in a way that helps us “pray more deeply and realistically”.
During the month of Ramadan, many Muslims are open to exploring the truth of their faith as they fast and pray. They are working hard to earn their salvation. But this ritual often opens their eyes to see that Islam and its rules do not have answers. Instead, the work of the Holy Spirit often leads to a miraculous awakening to see the truth of the God of the Bible. Suggested web site for specific requests is www.calltopray.net.
Below are some suggested Biblical texts to focus our prayers for those in the Muslim world. As you affirm the truth claims of “our heavenly Father,” pray that He would penetrate not only our lives and culture but the lives of those in all other cultures.
Monday- "The Lord is my strength and my defense; He has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise Him, my Father's God, and I will exalt Him." Exodus 15:2
Tuesday - " A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in His holy dwelling." Psalm 68:5
Wednesday - " For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." Isaiah 9:6
Thursday - "Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God." 2 Corinthians1:2-4
Friday - "Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father." Galatians 1:3,4
Saturday -"I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know Him better." Ephesians 1:17
Sunday - "You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. Though He was God, He did not think of equality with God as something to clint go. Instead, He gave up His divine privileges; He took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When He appeared in human form, He humbled Himself in obedience to God and died a criminal's death on a cross. Therefore, God elevated Him to the place of highest honor and gave Him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." Philippians 2:5-11
