Root of Fear
Read - Isaiah 51:12-13; Psalm 10:4; Psalm 138:6
Isaiah offers a stunning reorientation towards fear in verse 12. God asks “Who are you that you fear man?” We don’t typically associate pride with fear. Yet God makes it clear that a fear of people, in some way, is rooted in some sort of arrogance. It is hard for fear and trust to co-exist, and here God points out that our fear of man cripples our trust in God. How would you answer this question from God in verse 12? What does the forgetfulness mentioned at the beginning of verse 13 have to do with it?
