Comfort From the Past
Read - Isaiah 51:1-3; Genesis 15:1-6
Isaiah addresses the faithful remnant of Israel, and points to God’s promise to Abraham as a reminder of the Lord’s faithfulness. While Abraham doubted, the Lord did as He said He would. In the midst of Israel’s difficulties, why is looking back to Abraham offered as a reason for comfort? What picture of hope is painted in Isaiah 51:3? If God one day will turn our wilderness into Eden, and our desert into a garden, than how does that affect our distress in the present?
