UKRAINE, an earth point of view: a “powder keg waiting to explode”. UKRAINE, a heaven point of view: a “powder keg” driving people to Christ, in desperation for hope. “From Crimea, we have reports that former and current Muslims are coming to our churches and saying “Can we pray together to God?” Last weekend in one Crimean church, people stayed all night and prayed together, seeking hope and peace. Pray as Christian leaders in church and on radio stations preach the message of salvation, of deliverance, of healing broken hearts and families. Pray for people to read the Bibleand follow Jesus.
They ask us to join them in praying for peace and unity, especially for their relationship with their Russian brothers in Christ. The evil one, similar to the situation in Nazi Germany during WWII, is dividing the Ukrainian/Russia believers over political issues of who is right - Ukraine or Russia? Some evangelicals cite the corruption in the Ukrainian government and the need for that government to resign. Other Russian evangelicals believe Yanukovych is still the legitimate leader of Ukraine and Russia is acting on his behalf and on behalf of the safety of Russians in Crimea.
Should Christians be involved in politics? Ask God to heal wounds and equip the church to share Jesus as they join together. Pray for God to use political leadership (including USA and EU) to fulfill His will. Pray that entire cities and communities come to Christ. Pray that Christians will be unified behind the main thing - the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
“My children, I will be with you only a little longer. You will look for me, and just as I told the Jews, so I tell you now: Where I am going, you cannot come. A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” [John 13:33-35]
