Children's Sunday School
Our Children's Programs parallel GBC's mission statement, "Reflecting the Lord Jesus Christ to a Needy World", in that we strive to train our children to know and love Jesus, to love their neighbors, and to tell others about the love of Jesus.
We provide care for children ages infant to fifth grade during each of the morning services. Each service provides the children with the same Biblical concept presented in different styles. All of our teachers have completed a teacher's covenant form, submitted a background check form and have been interviewed by the Director.
Kidz Cove
Infants/Toddlers
Our infant and toddler programs aim to provide a loving, nurturing, secure and clean environment that is centered on Christ. The infant room is for children 0-12 months. The toddler room is for children 12-24 months.
Age 2
The two-year-old class is for children ages two to three. This class provides a little more structure and a transitional area for children between the ages two to three. The focus of this class is to nurture, love and play with these children while presenting them with an age-appropriate Bible lesson.
Ages 3-4
Three- and four-year-olds are offered an age-appropriate program that centers on basic Bible truths. The curriculum is from David C. Cook. The teachers use this curriculum to introduce children to God's word through games, Bible stories, hands-on crafts and snacks.
Preschoolers
Our preschool Sunday school is for children ages 4-5 who will be entering kindergarten. These children are provided with a fun yet structured learning environment that enables them to explore their relationship with God and others through Bible time, worship, playtime, crafts and snacks.
Kindergarteners
The Kindergarten class is for children who are currently in kindergarten at school. This class focuses on real-life applications. The children learn that God is important and relevant in every area of their lives. They explore God's word through Bible stories and hands-on activities.
Kidz Connect
Grades 1-5
Groton Bible Chapel also offers programs for children in grades 1 through 5 on Sunday mornings. The children start in their small group rooms which are divided according to grade to allow the kids the opportunity to connect with their peers and leaders. Then they move into large group time that open with Welcome and announcements and moves into worship time. After music, the kids hear a lesson together as a large group. The curriculum is "Tru Story" by David C. Cook. The kids discover how God has a plan for them. Following the lesson, the kids are given the opportunity to respond through prayer, games, or activities related to the lesson. Then they are dismissed back into their small groups to discuss the lesson, do a craft and then fill out prayer cards. Our children’s ministry vision statement, “Children Reaching Others for Jesus!” is reflected in the lessons and experiences of the children each week as they seek to grow more like Jesus and reflect His love to their world, reaching family and friends with the gospel of Jesus!
Special Needs
On Sunday mornings at 9:30am, we offer a Sunday School class for children above first grade with special needs. This class provides children with a loving, safe and appropriate environment tailored to their specific needs, and teaches them about God’s love for them. This class always has at least two teachers in the classroom, and pagers are available for parents if necessary. (Children younger than first grade with special needs are integrated into the regular classrooms.)
